We arrived at Nellis AFB around 12:30 this afternoon. The trip went rather well, except for noticing the difference in gas prices in Kingman, AZ. We noticed on our Cheap Gas App on our phone that prices were much higher in Nevada than Arizona. So, we planned to top off in Kingman. However, when we got off the interstate, we were sticker-price-shocked to say the least. Within a mile from I-40 on Rt 93 to Hoover Dam, there were at least 6-7 gas station from Flying “J”, 76, Shell, Chevron, Mobil, a couple of local gas stations and a Circle K. The price difference ran from $2.99 at Flying “J” to $4.18 at Chevron. Yes! I said that right! But what caught our eye was that the Chevron Station was packed with people filling up. It was totally astounding to see. There has to be a Neurosis for this type of behavior. Another odd thing ~ directly across the street from Flying “J” selling for $2.99, was a Shell station selling for $3.89/gal. The economy must be doing great because people just seem to have too much money!! With that said ~ I’d rather use my money for “S&S” ~ only if I survive from Mom putting her foot down ~ on me!!

We left Fort Tuthill, AZ at 07:00am this morning. Trying to get a jump start on the heat. Jan & I tried to remember the last time we went over Hoover Dam. The exact date has long passed us by. However, we did remember that they were just starting to survey the area for the new bridge by-pass. A decade or two ago! I’ll leave that research other time. Crossing over the Colorado River on the new bridge for the first time ~ well we were expecting to see some beautiful views ~ NOT! What a disappointment! Couldn’t see anything; either the river or the Hoover Dam, all we saw were the high concrete walls on the bridge sides ~ BOO HOO!!

Until Later
